I’m Lizzie, the owner and head groomer of Ruff to Regal. I have been an animal lover all my life. Growing up surrounded by dogs, cats, and horses, it was no surprise to my family that I went to the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, and studied Animal Science.
I landed what I thought was my ideal job as an animal trainer for a film and TV company. My first role was training two bulls for an upcoming film, Robin Hood (with Russell Crowe). I worked hard for six months, getting these bulls ready for their big moment, pulling a cart carrying extras for a scene. The day came, and I was beaming with pride. But, the scene was cut from the film. Why, you ask? Well, I bathed the bulls the night before, and they were gleaming—a little too bright for a muddy medieval scene. And so, my fate was sealed. From that moment, I realized I was destined to transform an animal’s appearance rather than making them into movie stars.
I have owned and worked in mobile grooming vans, and worked alongside and led a team of groomers from small independent companies to big corporate organizations.
One thing has become clear throughout my career: the grooming industry needs to change. Therefore, I created Ruff to Regal.
Ruff to Regal is a premier grooming salon where your dog’s welfare, comfort, and grooming standards are at the heart of what we do. I focus on building trust and a bond between myself and your dog so that a grooming appointment becomes a part of their normal routine. I work closely with the owner to achieve this, and together we create an individual, tailor-made package for their dog, which can include grooming, teeth cleaning, and seasonal packages as well.
